NEW WEBSITE!

I created a website!  Feel free to check it out by clicking here!

I am still unemployed, but I have had a couple successful interviews, I just haven't landed any jobs yet.  I keep applying places and am just waiting.  I have decided to go into freelance work, so if you are need or know of someone in need of creating websites, designing advertisements, or writing copy, feel free to let me know.

Until next time,

Happy News!

I dislike/love when you have been applying for jobs and you hear the sound that of  message that you just received an email on your iPod.  I dislike the sound when it is one of those pointless emails, such as the retailers that send you emails a couple times a day about promotions and deals they are currently offer.  I love when it is an important email that has meaning to your life.

Today, I received one of those wonderful little emails!  A couple of days ago, I applied for a position and this morning, I checked my email after hearing that sound of a new message on my iPod, and it says, "I received your resume and cover letter today.  We do have an entry level sales position open at this time.  If you are interested please call as soon as possible to discuss setting up an interview."

YAY!!  So I text my parents and let them know of this wonderful occasion.  My father asks if I called yet.  My response was, well I don't necessarily want to seem too desperate, so I will call them within an hour or so.  My dad responds, "good idea."
So, I call and they don't answer.  My heart starts beating really fast.  I have to leave a message.  I think to myself, Oh no!  I sound dumb when it comes to leaving messages because usually I get frazzled and just start rambling.  I leave a nice message and think to myself, there is nothing else I can do.  A couple of hours pass, and I receive that important call.  I discuss my qualifications and a brief life story about why I will do great in this job, and I get asked if I would like to schedule an interview!  Of course I say yes!

I HAVE AN INTERVIEW NEXT WEEK!!!  YAY!  Now I have a lot of homework to do this weekend and at the beginning of next week.

This Lil fish is now really swimming in this big ocean, or what we call the real world, or job market!

Until next time,
Lil Fish :)

My Life & Job Hunting

I had a great weekend volunteering out in Battle Creek, MI for the state wide Outreach to Teach.  I helped make a school better by painting murals around an elementary school.  It was a lot of fun.  I also had a great time this weekend at the East Lansing Art Festival.  I had the chance to hang out with my brother and walk around to view beautiful art, jewelry, furniture, and, my favorite, photography.

No job yet.  I keep applying to new places and keep finding new postings.  I am currently working on my website, and will keep you posted when I debut it!  I also am working on business cards and have to make decisions on what information to incorporate.  Hopefully something life changing happens soon!!

It was meant to be...

I regret to inform you that Ad Club did not make it as the wildcard team to nationals.  Bummer! It was a great ride and an AWESOME/AMAZING/WONDERFUL/EXHAUSTING/EXCITING experience that I would not like to forget!  A lot of blood, sweat, tears, and hardwork went into creating our campaign and I would like to thank everyone who helped in working on and to those who gave me support.  You all are awesome, THANK YOU! As you can see, I have included the photo of the team after we got second place!

Until next time,
Lil Fish

Welcome to My Blog!

Thank you for following me as I embark out into the large ocean.

My background:
I am a recent college graduate of Central Michigan.  At this phase in my life, I feel I am a "lil fish"  because I am currently unemployed, have just moved back home to live with my parents while I work on attaining my first job.  I am working on finding the right job in the "big ocean," or what we call the incredibly scary job market.  I am working on finding a job in the fields of marketing or advertising.

Today, I was applied for a couple of internships!  I hope they read my application and find me qualified enough to give me a second look and/or interview!  Fingers Crossed!

I am also currently and anxiously awaiting results.  During the past year, I was involved in club the American Advertising Federation at school.  AAF Central is an on-campus chapter of the American Advertising Federation, where members gain hands on experience by participating in the National Student Advertising Competition. They also provide the opportunity to learn from and network with professionals through guest speakers and professional development opportunities both on and off campus.  We worked on a fully integrated advertising campaign for a national retailer.  We competed back in April at Districts against 22 other universities in the Mid-west.  We placed 2nd!  We now have a chance to be a wild card candidate for nationals in June, which will be held in San Diego.

I HOPE WE GET IT! CHECK BACK TO FIND OUT!
